Public restrooms. The door’s closed. Do you knock? Or do you just assume? Because if you just assume it’s occupied, and it’s not, you’ve wasted precious seconds that could have been spent… well, waiting less. But if you assume it’s empty, and you push, and *bam*! You’ve just walked in on someone. Now *that’s* awkward. The universal ‘occupied’ sign is never clear enough. It’s either green and red, or locked and unlocked. But what if it’s *stuck*? What if the person inside accidentally locked themselves in, and the sign is still green, beckoning me into a trap? It’s a gamble every time. A high-stakes game of chance just to use the facilities. It’s too much pressure, I tell ya. Too much pressure for a simple transaction.
